VINTAGE ORANJEBOOM BIER (BEER) DUTCH ENAMEL SIGN

£999
The Oranjeboom Brewery was founded in Rotterdam in 1671 and towards the end of the 19th century all developments in the Dutch brewing industry involved the then-new process of brewing lager. From there, the Oranjeboom Beer (or Bier) that was popular throughout Europe in the mid-20th century was born.
This particular enamel sign with it's vibrant orange background and bright white lettering is likely to date to the late '50s / early '60s (Oranjeboom was renamed Skol between 1973-'82 so this pre-dates that change over) and was produced by the Dutch enamelers 'Langcat' who's factory was located in the region of Bussum.
It remains in very good, bright condition for it's age with a fantastic surface gloss and with it's original mounting holes present and fully functional. The sign has a slight (1.5cm deep) return which adds to it's rigidity and has helped minimise any damage, though there is some very minor chipping / losses to the enamel around the outer edges and the typical light surface scratches that would be expected on any vintage enamel sign. Generally this would have to be considered a very good example of it's type and an excellent piece of decor for a vintage themed man-cave, cafe, bar or pub...
The sign measures 1.43m wide x 28cm high and is 1.5cm thick.
