This large, 'banner' enamel sign combines impressive dimensions (just shy of 2m wide) with strong graphics and a very 'heavy' colour scheme resulting in a piece that creates a big impact. 

Produced by the large French company 'Emaillerie Alsacienne Strasbourg' the sign exclaims that 'Excelsior Beers are the Best!'. Likely to date from the mid-20th century, condition is generally quite good; there are some surface scratches and patches of enamel loss (most notably around the outer edges). The sign has a 1cm return and retains it's six original mounting tabs - there is some slight misshaping to the edges, but not really noticeable once secured to the wall. Due to it's dimensions, when not hung the sign does flex under it's own weight so has been secured to a simple wooden frame. It can either be hung with this or secured directly to a wall. 

The sign measures 197cm wide and is 46cm high.
