PARK DRIVE / CONDOR TWIST CIGARETTES ENAMEL FLANGE SIGN
£0
£999
Park Drive cigarettes and Condor Twist tobacco were brands of the Irish Gallagher group - one of the largest tobacco companies in the world. A machine-made cigarette brand, Park Drive, was introduced from 1902.
This double-sided, enamel flange sign is particularly unusual example - the inner face advertising Park Drive and the outer face advertising Condor Twist... It's likely to date 1930s/'40s and both sides have survived the decades beautifully with a vibrant colours and a wonderfully glossy surface. The Park Drive side in particular has some really striking, Art Deco graphics, but although the company definitely had some incredible styling, less can be said about their multi-buy discounts as they advertise 5 cigarettes for 2 pence or 10 for 4 pence!?
A scarce example that remains in wonderful order - there's a small patch of enamel loss to the upper, flange side corner, present on both sides but otherwise the sign is virtually flawless. The flange, which allows the sign to be mounted at perpendicular to the wall is also in fantastic condition - it's quite possible this sign was either only ever hung indoors or possibly never displayed...
The sign measures 41cm wide x 31m high with a 4cm flange.
