PARK DRIVE CIGARETTES ENAMEL SIGN

£999
Park Drive cigarettes was a brand of the Irish Gallagher group - one of the largest tobacco companies in the world. A machine-made cigarette - Park Drive was introduced from 1902.
This 3ft x 2ft enamel sign is likely to date 1930s/'40s and has survived the decades beautifully with a vibrant colours and a wonderfully glossy surface. I doubt that the sign was ever hung outside, perhaps never hung at all as there's little in the way of enamel loss around the mounting holes. For me this sign's design is as good as it gets with fantastically Art Deco lettering / grapics. The 'For Pleasure' strapline is incredibly 'of the period' and a long way from the 'Will Kill' we see today! As a side note, I'm less than impressed with Park Drive's multi-buy discounts as they advertise 5 cigarettes for 2 pence or 10 for 4 pence!?
Condition wise, you'd be hard pressed to find better. There are a few light surface scratches, a very slight dulling of the surface gloss (see angled photos) and some incredibly minor nibbling around the edges but this is a seriously rare survivor.
The sign measures 3ft (91.5cm) high x 2ft (61cm) wide.
UK Mainland P+P would cost £15.
