This large (1m wide) Blue Bell Tobacco enamel sign is a real statement piece. Bright white lettering with a black drop shadow contrasts beautifully against a rich, blue background. "Cool and Mellow" was probably horribly misleading marketing but makes for a lovely strap-line none the less! 

 

The sign is likely to date from the 1930s and remains in relatively good order - though there's a some enamel loss around the outer edges and a small patch above the 'B' of 'tobacco'. There's also some mottling / discolouration to the blue background and a dulling of the surface gloss, but in my opinion these signs of age and wear add to the character of the piece without impacting it's legibility. 

 

The sign sits nice and flat and can be hung with ease using it's original mounting holes. It measures 101.5cm wide x 76.5cm high.
