This Ultra Electric dealership sign is a truly lovely piece of early 20th century advertising. It's double sided, with ridged + mirrored glass lettering and is encased in a nicely detailed metal work frame - the blacks remain deep and the reds remain rich.

From 1921 on Edward E. Rosen produced Headphones and Loudspeakers, branded Ultra. In 1925 the Company Ultra was formed. The materials and stylings of this sign are very typical of the 1920s and this sign is likely to date from the company's early days.

Although this would probably have hung outside a shop and spent a lot of time exposed to the elements it remains in generally good condition - the painted glass being far less susceptible to the weathering than paint/enamel equivalents. The paint on the metal frame has faded and large areas have flaked off, but the frame itself remains good. There are areas on the sign itself where the black background is showing some of the ridging that's used in the text sections, but other than this the only thing to note is a very small crack in the lower left corner of one side (see the second image). On the whole this is a lovely, unusual sign with very rich, 'of the period' stylings.

The sign is 68cm wide, including the curled details on the frame 44cm high, with the main area being 31cm high and it's 3cm deep.
