EARLY R WHITE'S MINERAL WATERS ENAMEL SIGN
£0
£999
A particularly early piece of R White's enamel advertising, this sign was produced by the Patent Enamel Co Ltd, London (not Birmingham!) and dated to December 1903 - making it about as early as they come!
Unusually the sign is primarily promoting R. White's Mineral Waters, though it does go on to list; Lemonade, Ginger Beer, Soda Water, American Cream Soda, Kaola (?) &c, &c (an abbreviation of et cetera / etc). It's depicted in the lovley blue and white colourway typical of early enamel advertising and features simple, bold typography.
An unusual and early example but it's definitley lived a life - there are patches of enamel loss scattered across the face and around the outer edges along with a few patches of discolouring and a lot of surface scratching which has dulled the enamel's glossy surface. Despite this, the piece does remain legible and is still a very bright and eye catching piece.
Some of the original mounting holes have corroded, but additional ones have been added over the years and the sign can be displayed with ease. It measures 76.5cm high x 51cm wide.
