In 1922, T. Wall & Sons Ltd went from making and retailing sausages In London's St. James' Market to making ice cream and the transition proved to be an incredibly successful one... To begin with Wall's ice-cream was distributed by horse and cart and a fleet of 10 tricycles. By 1939 there were 85,000 Wall's tricycles on the road and the company had introduced a number of different ice creams that were household favourites. It is this immense popularity that makes the company's logo and bright colour ways so familiar and so evocative of warm, sunny Summer days...

This double-sided, shaped tin sign in it's original baby blue aluminium framework is likely to date to the 1960s. It's lovely to find a double-sided example obviously there are multiple ways to display, but it looks particularly good hanging from a ceiling so that it's visible from either-side of a room. It's survived in a nice, original vintage condition; the colours have muted slightly and a scattering of scrapes, scratches, dints and dents add to it's character without impacting it's legibility. One side is slightly clearer than the other, but both sides have their merits. All in all it's a fantastic piece of feel-good decor that would be perfect for any vintage themed kitchen, café or tea rooms.

The sign measures 69.5cm wide x 50cm high x 2.5cm deep.
