'Huiles Renault' = 'Renault [Motor] Oils'. This 1950s/'60s French, double-sided enamel sign for Renault Oils is a wonderfully vibrant piece of enamel advertising. It has punchy colours, and bold lettering with a strong drop shadow and has survived the decades in wonderrful order retaining a lovely deep surface gloss. 

 

This sign would probably have originally hung outside a garage / service centre and would have been suspending from a metal framework or similar so that it could be seen from either diredtion. A quality piece that's pleasingly weighty and that would have originally had small brass inserts to the mounting holes to minimise damage to the enamel when displayed (2 out of 4 remain). The sign remains in fantastic order, with both sides unfaded and glossy; one side has a very small chip below the 'E' of Renault and a slight streak of discolouration in the upper yellow section, the other side has a couple of incredibly tiny chips and a slight streak of discolouration to the lower yellow section. There's a little chipping around the outer edges and some wear to the mounting holes but nothing that detracts from the impacat of the piece generally this would have to be considered an excellent example of a fairly uncommon sign. 

 

It measures 65cm diamter and can either be suspended as originally designed from hooks in a ceiling / doorway or you can pick your favourite side and wall mount.
