This large, rectangular Esso sign is a little bit different to the majority of the company's mid-century advertising which generally appeared in a square format and would usually feature 'PETROL', 'DIESEL', 'GARAGE' etc beneath the main logo in large, bold lettering. This absence of this makes this sign pleasantly simple. 

Produced in enamel by Art France it appears to be dated to May of 1953. The condition is generally very good - there are a few patches of enamel loss across the sign but nothing that overly affects the main logo, all the original mounting holes are present and secure and the colours remain strong and bright. 

The sign measures 1m wide by 80cm high.
