FIRESTONE TYRES MAP OF ENGLAND ENAMEL SIGN

These Firestone Tyres signs featuring a map of England and Wales, Scotland or Ireland have to be one of the most impressive pieces of mid-century enamel signage available. The level of detail is absolutely incredible; a full representation of the 'Geographia' Main Roads Map captured in crisp, bright, glossy enamel.
Decent examples are very hard to come by and this piece, depicting England is probably the most iconic and desirable. The sign is in a fairly excellent condition, there's the standard enamel loss around the mounting holes and along the very outer edges (most notably the lower or the left edge) - all fairly standard with signage of this period. The red enamel for the Firestone lettering has reacted somewhat oddly, probably a firing fault, resulting in grey 'pock-marks', but this sort of thing is fairly common and doesn't impact the legibility or impact of the lettering. Aside from this the sign has a very good, clean surface, bright colours and a really lovely gloss (which I've tried to show in the second to last photo with the light's reflection). Thanks to a small return on the edges, the sign has held good shape and can be hung using it's original mounting holes.
The piece measures 1.22m high x 72.5cm wide and has a 1.5cm return.
