Rollerball - a completely barmy, distopian vision of the future that we hope won't turn out to be true (though the way the past year's gone - you never know!). 

 

Here we have an extremely rare foiled US advanced one sheet poster for the 1975 Norman Jewison version of the film. 

 

The striking artwork by Bob Peak was originally drawn up in charcoal. A limited number of the advnaced posters were printed onto this foiled paper stock whilst the majority just had a metalic coloured background. This piece was produced before the backlit posters of the late '80s and with it's metalic sheen and slightly reflective surface it would have really stood out from the others in the cinema foyer. 

 

The film was a weird, expensive one to make and advertising for it was fairly limited, foiled examples are rarer still and presentable examples are incredibly scarce. This example does have some creases and some scuffs but with a surface that shows every little mark this is inevitable. There are no major tears and it reamins a very eye-catching piece. Incredibly difficult to photograph and to 'reflect' (pun partly intended) the nature of the piece, the photographic lighting does highlight / emphasise the creases - in person they're not so pronounced. 

 

The poster has been professionally framed using conservation grade backing paper and is ready to hang. Including the frame it measures 107cm high x 71.5cm wide x 2.5cm deep.
