SPRATT'S ENAMEL ADVERTISING DOG BOWL
£0
£999
James Spratt was an American entrepreneur and his company Spratt's was the first 'large-scale manufacturer of dog biscuits'.
Spratt's commissioned a fantastic range of enamel advertising in the early 20th century and plenty of different examples of their signage remain on the market today ... More unusually are these enamel advertising dog bowls. They were produced by the Patent Enamel Co. of Birmingham and date to the 1920s-'30s.
A few different examples exist, but they're fairly scarce in any form.
This particular one is a simple yet bold blue on white 'SPRATT'S'. It evidences a life lived; it has enamel loss and corrosion around the upper and lower edges, most notably the loss of the lower edge under one of the handles as well as a couple of patches of enamel loss in the bowl itself, though it does remain water tight... It's not the best example on the market, but this is reflected in the price.
It measures 27cm in diameter x 10cm high.
