With it's bold typography and colours this vintage AA (Automobile Association) embossed metal "Road Closed" sign is a lovely piece of authentic automobilia.

 

The sign dates to the 1950s so is 'pre-Worboys' (the 1963 committe that formed to bring a standard / uniformity to Britian's road signage) and is made from embossed aluminium (or a variant there of). It's aged nicely with some surface corrosion and paint flaking giving it the sort of surface and character that can't be reproduced. As with many old signs, it was repurposed at some point with the rear being very crudely painted with an 'Out of Order' message... This doesn't affect the main sign in anyway but does add to it's story. 

 

The sign sits perfectly flat, isn't heavy and has a multitude of original mounting holes to choose from - a very easy piece of decor in the home or man cave. 

 

It measures 61cm wide x 31cm high.
