SET OF POLISHED ALUMINIUM AIRCRAFT DRAWERS

£999
This is a truly fantastic set of drawers. The design is identified at 'Moore's Cabinet Stowage' and was produced by A.P. Metalcraft Ltd of Coventry, England. It appears the drawers were designed for use on aircraft; they have securing holes along the top and sides and a hinged retaining edge on the front right side to stop the drawers opening during flight.
The front, top and retaining edge have all been professionally polished; as the drawers are made of thick, quality metal they've responded incredibly well to the polishing - holding a deep shine with no warping, distortion or 'buffing' marks. The sides and back remain unfinished as the set would've been designed to slot into place on board the aircraft.
The set consists of 19 drawers and each is lined with a slotted metal edge to allow them to be partitioned. A large number of partitions come with the set so that the drawers can be configured to your own requirements.
As already mentioned the quality particularly good; the handles all neatly riveted in place and label holders attached to each drawer.
A small maker's plaque is attached to the front upper middle, it identifies the design, the maker and the piece's British and Canadian Patent numbers.
Condition is generally good for a piece that would've gone through heavy service (and probably served as a tool chest for years after the end of it's flying days) there are marks, dents and scratches consistent with the age but the polish gives a crisp, smart, over-all appearance.
I've been unable to find much information on the makers to help identify the age, but judging by the styling and quality I'd put it around the 1930s/40s - far more accurate dating could be gained by researching the patent numbers.
The drawers stand 1.5m tall, are 49.5cm wide and 44cm deep.
