LARGE, STELLA ARTOIS PARKING ENAMEL SIGN

Stella Artois is a Belgian Pilsner/lager that's long been established as a household name in England. First introduced in 1926 examples of advertising for Stella Artois are relatively scarce in comparison to a lot of other well known beers from the period.
This large (1.5m wide) Stella Artois Parking enamel sign is a bit of a rarity. The sign was produced by T.P. Bruxelles who produced enamel signs for a number of breweries around the mid-20th century. Their signs almost always hold a production number and date - in this instance the sign is dated to October 1975. As is common with continental signage, this piece has 'ears' / tabs for the mounting holes - these tabs allow the sign to be mounted without the risk of the fixings damaging the enamel on the main surface of the sign.
This sign has suffered from the fairly inevitable enamel loss to those mounting tabs, along with a few other patches along the outer edges of the sign and a few small areas on the main face. There is some surface scratching - mainly to the red enamel layer. Generally the sign hangs straight and displays well with the condition adding to the character of the piece without impacting it's legibility.
The sign can be easily hung using it's original mounting holes and measures 150cm wide x 48cm high x 2cm deep.
