This large, early Nestlé's Milk enamel sign is a rich in character as it is in milk... It's dark blue background and white lettering are a striking combo and despite the enamel loss, the mix of typography remains striking and legible. Measuring in at just over 1.2m wide, this is a real statement piece that's pretty scarce in any condition. 

 

The sign dates to the turn of the century; the Patent Enamel Co ceased using the the Cannon St address around 1905. This makes it a particularly early example of enamel advertising... It has extensive enamel loss around the lower left and a vertical crease towards the right side as well as some chipping around the outer edges and a few other patches of enamel loss. Despite surface scratching, the sign does retain some of it's original enamel gloss, though it's worth noting that there are 'flat' patches too (see angled photos for a better understanding). Some of the original mounting holes have corroded, though there are sufficient that remain in good order to hang the sign. A suitable example for display inside or out. 

 

The sign measures 122.5cm wide x 77cm high.
