CHARMING, VINTAGE WALL'S ICE CREAM TIN SIGN
£0
£999
In 1922, T. Wall & Sons Ltd went from making and retailing sausages In London's St. James' Market to making ice cream and the transition proved to be an incredibly successful one... To begin with Wall's ice-cream was distributed by horse and cart and a fleet of 10 tricycles. By 1939 there were 85,000 Wall's tricycles on the road and the company had introduced a number of different ice creams that were household favourites. It is this immense popularity that makes the company's logo and bright colour ways so familiar and so evocative of warm, sunny Summer days...
This single-sided, shaped tin sign has a date marker for 1968 and is a beautifully aged example of the company's vintage advertising. The sign has survived in decent condition with a little misshaping to the corners, some fairly light dings and dents (most of which have resulted in paint-loss on their high spots) and a smattering of surface scratches which add to the character and charm of the piece without impacting it's impact or legibility. A fantastic piece of feel-good decor that would be perfect for any vintage themed kitchen, café or tea rooms.
The sign measures 60cm wide x 44cm high and is ready to hang.
