Standing at 2m high x 1m wide, this large, French Chocolat Poulain tin sign is a real statement piece! 

 

Chocolat Poulain is one of the oldest chocolate brands in France and they're particularly renowned for their bars of eating and cooking chocolate. The company's icon is a jumping foal, which is a wordplay on the creator's name "Poulain" - French for foal.

 

I believe this sign to date to the 1970s. It's printed on thin, galvanised sheet metal so, despite it's size it is of a managable weight and can be hung with relative ease (note, it will need to be hung as the sheet metal isn't thick enough to support it's own weight - if leant or propped it would sag). It has aged beautifully - the colours have softened and faded and around the lettering the red base layer of print has bled through - all giving it a lovely, authentic vintage look and feel. The sign does have some dents, creases and surface scratches but nothing that affects the impact or legibility and it displays well.
