BRIGHT, BYRRH APERITIF TIN SIGN

Byrrh (pronounced beer) was founded in France in the 19th century and is a wine-based aperitif, that is apparently 'the kind of old-school cocktail ingredient that is really coming back into vogue'!
Byrrh were always very big on advertising with the company's branding appearing in a number of mid-20th century (normally French) films and even a French stamp in the 1930s. As this bright, bold tin sign shows they definitely went for impact over subtlety!
This particular example is dated to 1957 and was produced in Marseille. It remains in lovely, bright condition. These litho printed tin signs are inherently more vulnerable than their enamel counterparts and this example has picked up some surface scratches, a few areas of loss and the upper left corner has some fairly heavy creasing that has been flattened back out, but generally the sign displays well.
The sign measures 90cm wide x 40cm high.
