PLAYER'S PLEASE, ENAMEL SIGNS IN ORIGINAL A-FRAME
£0
£999
In the early 20th century around two thirds of all cigarettes sold in England were Player's. "Players Please" was a slogan that was introduced in 1924 and became heavily embedded into the brand's identity.
This A-Frame is a real rarity. Totally original with an individual enamel sign to each side. I’ve not seen another one complete, and even as individual enamel signs, this simple red and white design is uncommon.
Both faces are in decent order, both have some areas of enamel loss (one side x3 patches between the words, the other a small band through 'Please'). Both sides have a few dull patches to the white background layer, but the black and red text holds lovely colour and gloss.
The A-Frame itself is fantastic quality - heavy duty with very well made hinging and supporting straps - even the ends of the legs are slightly flared so it sits better. It's a weighty piece - made to last and it certainly has done.
It stands 96cm high x 62cm wide x 72cm deep.
