Absolutely something and nothing, yet one of my favourite purchases in a while is this simple wooden box full of smaller cardboard boxes screws. 

 

"Ask for the celebrated Sun Brand Box of Screws - best quality" - this presumably sat on the counter of a hardware shop or similar in the 1940s / '50s where the individual packets could be purchased. For something so simple and utilitarian the graphics are just fantastic! Wonderfully bold, punchy lettering on the advert inside the lid which gets infinitely more intense when the design is repeated 24 times in miniature on the packets inside... 

 

A rare, perhaps now unique survivor in decent condition; the label on the front edge of the box has started to flake / fade, the lid has split and glued back together and some of the packets inside have aged / discoloured but for me this is all part of the charm / appeal of a vintage piece. 

 

The box measures 38cm wide x 7cm high x 17cm deep.
