VIBRANT 'ITALY' - TOURIST BOARD POSTER
£490
£999
This bright and cheery poster dates to 1955, and was produced by the Belli Orsa Studio for ENIT (Ente Nazionale Italiano per il Turismo) - the Italian Tourist Board. The poster was printed in Italy but probably for the English market. I beleive that this truly joyful artwork was created by the British freelance illustrator Maurice Laban (1912-1970). Laban designed posters during the 1940s-'60s - clients included BOAC and Quantas.
This is an original poster and a rare survivor though it does show some signs of a life lived - there are yellowed glue marks from cellotape in all four corners, some creasing along the outer edges (mainly the lower left) and a small surface loss just left of cenre. Generally though this would have to be considered a good example, the colours are bright and none of the damage impacts the legibility or overall appearance of the piece.
Measuring 104cm high x 65.5cm wide (inc frame) this is a real statement piece that's ready to hang.
