Equal parts charming and random - this vintage wooden (ply) Donkey's head oozes character... Where it originates from I really don't know - it dates to the c.1950s and the quality but one-off feel of the production would lead me to think funfair / carnival / theatre. The painted harness detailing has metal hardware and two hooks under the chin evidence the character was rope-lead at some point... 

 

It's worn nicely over the years with plenty of evidence of use - all part of it's appeal. 

 

The head measures approx. 46cm in length x 40cm high x 8cm wide.
