WONDERFUL PAIR OF LEATHER CHILD'S HOBNAIL BOOTS

£999
These early 20th century, black leather child's hobnail boots are a beautifully preserved 'blast from the past'... These boots are handmade and fantastic quality; they'd have been very sturdy and hardwearing, though I can't imagine at all comfortable and although grippy on muddy or loose surfaces, I think they'd have made walking on flag stones or similar hard surfaces like trying to walk on ice!
These were obviously treasured and well cared for items. Made in the 'quarter brogue' style with just a small strip of 'broguing' separating the toe from the main body of the shoe, they're leather soled (and stamped 'genuine leather' to the centre of the sole) with chunky hobnails hammered into them. Though there is some scuffing / marking to the toe of the shoe, they were kept polished to a high shine and present beautifully. The boots have been stuffed with material and this has helped the boots keep their shape. The black laces are later, though in keeping and the pull-tabs at the upper back are possibly later and one on the right boot has started to fray.
The boot's smaller size renders them very decorative in their own right and would display beautifully or their original condition, with minimal wear would render them fantastic props.
The boots measure 24cm heel to toe x 8.5cm wide x 14.5cm high.
