ANTIQUE HR HENRIOT QUIMPER FAIENCE COCKEREL BOWL

£999
This charming Quimper Faience two-handled bowl was produced by Henriot Factory around the turn of the century. Below the vibrant Cockerel decoration, the bowl is marked 'HR Quimper'... The Henriot factory first began producing faïence in 1891 and used the conjoined initials of the owner and his wife; "H" for Henriot and "R" for Riou. The consistent addition of 'Quimper' to the maker's mark began in 1895 and the HR mark was expanded to 'HenRiot' by 1922 so we can accurately place this bowl's production and decoration to the late 19th/early 20th century...
The exterior simply painted with blue dots and couronnes and the foot rim is pierced for hanging, there's slight nibbling to the rim, base and handles as per the photographs and some slight flaws to the glaze often found on pieces of Quimper faience of this period.
The bowl stands 6.5cm high, is 13cm in diameter and 17cm wide including the handles.
