This charming, mid-century hand-painted hardboard sign would have originated from the Leeds railway postal / sorting office and is referring to cash on delivery (C.O.D) and charge account parcels...

It's likely to date to the 1950s/'60s and has survived the decades in decent order considering the vulnerability of the medium. The hardboard has rounded off on the corners and it's picked up some additional paint flecks / staining but in my opinion this adds to the vintage charms of the piece without impacting it's legibility.

The sign sits nice and flat and has two holes in the upper edge for hanging.

The sign measures 61cm square.
