An utterly charming thing, this pressed-steel Triang 'Lightning' Pedal Car dates to the 1950s and is in a well-loved, unrestored condition. 

 

I think that everything is present / working. I'm a tad too big to take it for a spin, but the steering functions and the pedals go round so if you wanted to enjoy it for more than just it's decorative function, you probably could. There's a hole on the right side of the 'windscreen' surround where I guess a wing-mirror might've been fitted though I've not seen any examples with one so that might've been a dad's-shed special modification. 

In my opinion, the condition is just as you'd hope to find it. There's areas of surface rust on the paintwork and on the chrome, plenty of bumps, scrapes and scratches down the sides but this is a child's toy that's evidencing decades of enjoyment and really, outside of the collector's world, that's the whole charm of a vintage toy! Original decals are all present and just about visible. Chrome work still has some shine, front hub-caps are present and so are the tyres all round. 

 

The car measures 90cm long x 36cm wide x 43.5cm to the top of the 'windscreen' surround.
