MILLER DYNAMO LIGHTING CYCLIST SHOP DISPLAY SIGN
£395
£999
This die-cut, tin Miller Dynamo Lighting shop advertising display is a wonderfully sweet piece of mid-century marketing.
The sign depicts a bright eyed, rosy cheeked cyclist clad in a red and white striped jumper with matching scarf. It dates to the 1940s/'50s.
A full sized Miller dynamo and lamp would have been mounted around the back wheel and a lamp at the front of the bicycle as per the original paper diagram still stuck on the back...
A rare piece that's survived the years in very good condition, still mounted to it's original wooden base, the paintwork (probably litho / screen printed) is fully legible, albeit a little faded in areas. There's light surface rust leeching through but all inline with what would be expected with an original example from this period.
This is available alongside another example that has the same die-cut form but with variations to the printed design (see last photo / my other listings). Contrary to the fact that I have two available, examples are scarce - I've only seen two available for sale and have bought both. A deal would be possible on the two in order to keep them together.
The piece measures 43cm wide x 38cm high x 8cm deep.
