This is a lovely, original example of a cast iron British railway 'Beware of Trains' warning sign. Probably dating to the early - mid 20th century, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find an example that hasn't been over painted at some point in it's life. With this example, the texture of the cast iron can still be seen and there's a charming amount of rust starting to bleed through, giving the piece a lovely softer colour and a nice, aged feel. 

 

There's a small chunk missing from the right side of the upper edge, but other than this the sign remains in good condition and can easily be hung using it's original mounting holes, though it is worth noting that being in iron, this is a weighty piece!

 

The sign is 57cm wide x 38.5cm high and 2cm deep.
