Péricaud Radio were one of the first manufacturers in France to offer tube radios for civilian use, the company was based in Paris between 1900-1930.

This double-sided, hand-painted sign from an 'official distributer' of the company's radios / parts is likely to date to the '20s / early '30s and is probably a one-off. It's painted on a fairly thick, steel plate which is far weightier than your average tin sign meaning that the piece hangs nice and straight without denting or creases to the main face. The sign has aged beautifully - the lettering has been painted by a professional sign-writer and has faded over the decades revealing some of the brush strokes... This combined with rust leaching through on both sides along with some scratches and scrapes gives the piece a charming, authentic vintage aesthetic.

Condition wise, the sign would have to be considered to be in reasonable order considering it's age and the increased vulnerability of the painted surface in comparison to it's enamel counterparts. There is a slight dent / flattening to one side of the sign, there is paint loss, scratching and rust leaching through on both sides. Each face has aged slightly differently and so there is a choice as to which is displayed or it could be hung (using the original mounting hole in the top middle) in a doorway or window etc to show both sides.

The sign measures 50cm in diameter.
