CHARMING, HAND PAINTED FRENCH 'FLEURS' SIGN

A wonderfully charming thing, this French 'Fleurs' sign is double sided and hand painted / signwritten. With the remains of two horizontal posts to the side, this sign would have originally come out from a Flower Shop wall at a 90 degree angle. The bracket has now gone, but the sign can still be hung with a nail through the orante ironwork to the top of the sign.
The sign is competently painted with a lovely cast shadow and shading. There is a signature to the lower right of one side (pictured) but I can't make it out. It's always very difficult to date hand painted signage as the style is as much down to the individual sign writer as it is the period that the work was done, but I think that this is likely to date to the 1940s/'50s.
One side has survived in much better condition that the other. I suspect that after it lost / was removed from it's bracket it was hung flat against a wall - trapping moisture between one of the faces and a wall, causing fairly heavy corrosion / paint loss to one side. The 'front' side also has some surface corrosion and loose / flaking paint, but displays well and is fully legible but with some added character. Due to the loose paint surface, I would suggest that this sign is only suitable for inside display.
The sign measures 65cm wide x 45cm high x 1cm thick.
